About

Rochelle White is a London-based artist and educator who works primarily within photographic mediums.

Her work weaves through the complexities of identity, exploring conversations of personal and cultural politics resulting in a union of contemporary and traditional references often loaded with symbolism rooted in and informed by her lived experience. In her work, she has made references to ideas of home and belonging through photography of afro-Carribbean foods and drinks, the preparation of traditional as well as contemporary or personal renditions of Caribbean dishes, and a video work centred around her grandfather. White studies of the nuances of today’s Caribbean experience in Britain, whilst questioning ideas of spirituality and consumption.

After graduating from Camberwell College of Arts in 2016, White continues to work on personal projects along with collaborations with fellow artists. In partnership with Sasha Morgan, White launched Eating At the Same Table (EAST) in 2017. EAST is a networking programme for emerging artists of colour which aims to support and facilitate creatives as they navigate their careers.

Rochelle White lives and works in the London.
