Michael Atavar

Michael Atavar works across platforms – text, installation, virtual reality, audio and performance. As part of the Year of the Artist (2001), he was the first digital artist in residence at the Guardian newspaper.

The success of his book ‘How To Be An Artist’ (2009) prompted five further books, including ‘Looking At Art (With Your Eyes Closed)’ (2019), the contents of which came from his three courses at Tate. He has two apps on the AppStore ‘ESPELIDES’ (2018), ‘OMETHR’ (2020) and a Twitter bot ‘UWRMA’ (2020).
