About

Until the end of 2016, Sara Ahmed was a Professor of Race and Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London having been previously based in Women’s Studies at Lancaster University. Her research is concerned with how bodies and worlds take shape; and how power is secured and challenged in everyday life, as well as institutional cultures. Her work explores how differences, otherness and strangeness become ‘properties’ of bodies and spaces over time. Her books include: Living a Feminist Life (2017), Willful Subjects (2014), On Being Included: Racism and Diversity in Institutional Life (2012), Queer Phenomenology: Orientations, Objects, Others (2006) and The Cultural Politics of Emotion (2004).
