Jorella Andrews is currently Head of Department of Visual Cultures at Goldsmith’s University. Her research interests are focused on the relations between philosophical inquiry, perception and art practice, with a particular emphasis on phenomenology and the work of Maurice Merleau-Ponty. (These ideas are discussed in her book entitled Showing Off: A Philosophy of Image.) Jorella has worked on twentieth-century and contemporary visual cultures, also seventeenth-century Dutch art history and visual cultures. She has also been writing on black British art practices in relation to questions of communication and communicative ethics.
