Tianqi Yu (Kiki) is a PhD student at the Centre for Research and Education in Arts and Media (CREAM), University of Westminster, focusing on first person Chinese documentaries.

Kiki grew up in Shenzhen, China and obtained a distinction in BA (Hons) Film and TV production at the University of Westminster in 2005. Her film Photographing Shenzhen, commissioned for Discovery Channel, won Best Documentary and Grand Jury Price at 2008 Screentest – UK’s National Student Film Festival.

In 2008, she obtained  an MPhil. in Sociology from the University of Cambridge.  In 2009, she organized Polyphonic China – the first UK screening event of Chinese independent documentaries at London Old Cinema.
