Edward George is an artist, writer, musician and filmmaker born in London in 1963. His work, in documentaries, installations and sound art, in writing and electronic music, shares a concern with exploring and creating connections between questions of history and memory, race, nation and identity, presence and spectrality, science, sound and subjectivity, through collective and collaborative practice, and by cross-disciplinary, dub-inflected, morphological process.

He helped form Black Audio Film Collective [1982-98]. In 1998 he directed the documentary Gangsta Gangsta: the Tragedy of Tupac Shakur. George’s screenplay and research work with the collective include Memory Room 451 [1997], Last Angel of History [1995], and Seven Songs for Malcolm X [1993],

In 1996 George co-founded the multi media art and electronic music groups Flow Motion and Hallucinator.

Hallucinator’s work includes music for film – Memory Room 451 [1997], Universal Substitute [2002], theatre and dance – Absolute Zero [2000], Aya Mod 2 [2004]. Hallucinator’s recordings are released on Berlin’s Chain Reaction label.

Flow Motion’s installations, sound art performances symposia, performance presentations and web-based projects have been exhibited and performed internationally, and include Ghost Dance [2002], The Dub Museum [1999], Dissolve [2001], Astro Black Morphologies/Astro Dub Morphologies [2005] Deep Space Poetics [2005], Invisible [2007], and Promised Lands [2008/2009].

Flow Motion’s texts have been published in ‘Changing States: Art & Ideas In an Era of Globalisation’ [Iniva], Sonic Process Catalogue [Centre Pompidou] and Leonardo Journal [MIT].
