Olu Oguibe is an American Curator, Writer, and Artist born in Nigeria in 1964. Achieved in various fields, his eclectic, multi-disciplined career intersects the personal with the collective. 

He has contributed to a number of Iniva’s publications including Reading the Contemporary: African Art from Theory to the Market Place (1999), Frequencies: Investigations into Culture, History and Technology (Annotations 3) (1998), Global Visions: Towards a New Internationalism in the Visual Arts (1994). 

He has taught at Goldsmiths, University of London; the University of Illinois in Chicago; and at the University of South Florida, where he held the Stuart Golding Endowed Chair in African Art. Oguibe’s artwork has been exhibited at various institutions, including the Whitney Museum in New York, the Whitechapel Gallery and the Barbican Center in London, and the Migros Museum in Zurich. He took part in the Venice Biennale (2007) —the first year in which Africa was represented with a pavilion — as well as Documenta 14 (2017). 

Oguibe earned a degree in Fine and Applied Arts in 1986 from the University of Nigeria. He completed his PhD in Contemporary and African art at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London in 1992.
