The Lloyd Corporation is a collaborative project between artists Ali Eisa and Sebastian Lloyd Rees. This takes the form of co-produced sculptural objects but also as a less well-defined relationship between two individual practices – of assembling, reshaping, re-contextualizing and translating each other’s ideas and forms. Typically manifesting in the format of site-specific installation, it also includes the production of short texts, sculpture, prints and appropriated objects.
The work explores the political, economic and social framings of both the production and display of objects in contemporary culture; as well as the attempt to produce a kind of oblique methodology through which certain ideas and materials can be mobilised and processed into new shapes, forms and contexts. The work also pays particular attention to the relationship between contemporary art as a desire for the production of autonomous forms, and the various institutional frameworks that mediate its experience.
