Jacob V Joyce

  • CountryUnited Kingdom
  • Born1989

Joyce has graduated from Brighton University with a BA degree in Fine Art Sculpture. Over the last three years, organising performances, exhibitions, dinners and parades, the struggle against oppression has become a recurrent pattern in the work of Joyce. Acts of protest within Joyce’s artistic practice interrogate the structures of white supremacy, colonial histories, and patriarchic heteronormativity that inform capitalism. Joyce draws strength and inspiration from African theology working alongside devotees and priests of Lucumi and Yoruba. Joyce aims to create crossroads where activism, art, and marginalised narratives intersect.

Sculpture, performance, and curation are all tools Joyce uses to construct objects and platforms of critical contemplation.
