Progress Reports: art in an era of diversity

Questionable Times Yara El-Sherbini, Sonya Dyer, Tony Panayiotou

04 Mar 2010

A panel of cultural sector guests are grilled on issues of diversity in this re-staging of the popular TV show

Questionable Times: The Inivators (Iniva’s Youth Advisory Board) have created their own version of the popular BBC Question Time programme with a panel of guests who work in the cultural sector.  The event has been developed in response to Iniva’s founding mission, its history and the changes that have taken place over the last 15 years in the arts and wider society with regards to cultural diversity.

A panel of cultural sector guests will be grilled by the Inivators on issues of diversity including Yara El-Sherbini, artist, Sonya Dyer, artist writer and culture commentator, Tony Panayiotou, ACE UK, Munira Mirza – Mayoral Advisor on Arts and Culture and Professor Sarat Maharaj, writer and member of Iniva’s Board of Directors.

The event is chaired by an Inivator who asks guests to answer some of the following questions:

  • What does cultural diversity mean in the visual arts today?
  • Is cultural diversity still a relevant subject or have the questions around it now been resolved?
  • How can progress be made in the visual arts that genuinely encourage cultural diversities, and what would this involve?

This event is part of Work in Progress. a programme of events organised by the Inivators and artist Yara El-Sherbini in response to Progress Reports: art in an era of diversity.
