Ziauddin Sardar discusses ‘Reform’ with Robin Yassin-Kassab in this keywords lecture, a series evaluating keywords in art, culture and society.
Ziauddin Sardar is a writer, broadcaster and cultural critic, is Professor of Law and Society at Middlesex University. He writes about Islam and contemporary cultural issues, he is author of over fifty books, including studies, The Future of Muslim Civilisation (1979) and Islamic Futures: The Shape of Ideas to Come (1985).
Robin Yassin-Kassab’s first novel The Road From Damascus is published by Penguin. He co-edits and writes essays for the Critical Muslim. He coedits www.pulsemedia.org and blogs at www.qunfuz.com.
Keywords takes its title from Raymond Williams’ seminal book Keywords: a Vocabulary of Culture and Society first published in 1976, which looks at how the meaning of words change as the context in which they are used changes about them.
