Keywords Lectures – an Introduction

Keywords takes its title from Raymond Williams’ seminal book ‘Keywords: a Vocabulary of Culture and Society’ first published in 1976, which looks at how the meaning of words change as the context in which they are used changes about them.

Terms discussed to date include: Absolutely Postcolonial, Paternalism, The Left, Resistance, Reform and Class.

Speakers have included: Peter Hallward, Professor of Modern European Philosophy at Kingston University; Isobel Whitelegg, Research Officer and AHRC Fellow, Camberwell College of Arts; theorists Judith Butler and Sudeep Dasgupta; Cultural theorist and writer Stephen Wright and artist and lecturer Susan Kelly; Artist and writer Coco Fusco and Sara Ahmed, Professor in Race and Cultural studies, Goldsmiths, art historian and writer T J Clark and academic and author Ziauddin Sardar.

For each talk you can find an audio recording which is free to listen to online on the individual event page on the Iniva website, and there are also video clips on each page as well as on our YouTube Channel.
