Keith Piper: Relocating the Remains Exhibition

18 Jul 1997-27 Feb 2000

Retrospective of Keith Piper's work over 15 years, mapping the spaces of the post-colonial experience.

This major solo exhibition represented Piper’s work from 1982 – 1996 in three interactive installations.

A series of dialogues accompanied the exhibition presenting an in-depth analysis and criticism of the artist’s work:

‘Depicting History: Mapping the Spaces of the Post-colonial Experience’ with Jean Fisher

‘Viewpoints: Keith Piper Relocating the Remains’ with Richard Hylton and Roshini Kempadoo

‘Superfly, Heavyweight, Victim(iser): The Black Male as Hero and Thug in Contemporary Culture’ with Faisal Abdu’Allah

‘In the Cut-and-Mix: Possibilities in Collage, Multimedia and Digital Technologies’ with Keith Piper, Kobena Mercer and Gary Stewart.
