- Artists
Are you interested in being a curator or working in arts and events management?
Iniva and Summer Uni London have created a unique opportunity for young people (16-21 year olds) to take part in a five-week course culminating in a public exhibition.
The course will be led by freelance curator Adelaide Bannerman who has worked for organisations such as the 198 Gallery, South London Gallery, African and Asian Visual Artists Archive (AAVA), Arts Council England and Artquest.
You will learn about planning and staging an art exhibition using a real-life example. Participants will plan and curate an exhibition of work created by young people attending Summer Uni London art courses. Best of Art will open to the public at Rich Mix in Shoreditch on 28 August 2008.
The course will be presented by Iniva at Rivington Place, and we will visit selected shows across London during the five-week period. You will learn all about putting on an exhibition – developing the concept, selecting artists’ work, developing artist agreements, installing work, working with a technical team, press and marketing, and planning a private view.
Participants need to be committed and available for all five weeks.
The course is limited to eight people, who will be selected through an informal interview.
