In the third in a series of talks organised by Calvert 22 and The Courtauld Institute of Art Research Forum, a select panel explores key themes raised by the exhibition Field of Action. The Moscow Conceptual School in Context a specially adapted exhibition for Calvert 22. This first UK major presentation of the highly influential Moscow Conceptual School organised in collaboration with the Ekaterina Cultural Foundation in Moscow, examines the work of a group of ‘unofficial’ artists, united by a distinctive artistic discourse and operating within a significant and complex period of latter 20th century Russian history. Panelists place the work of the Moscow Conceptual School in in a wider international context of conceptualism.
Speakers include Elena Kuprina-Lyakhovich and David Thorp, co-curators of the exhibition, writer and art historian Elizaveta Butakova, and artist Vitaly Komar. Chair: Dr Sarah Wilson.
