Concluding their residencies in London, Andrew Esiebo, Goddy Leye and Mahmoud Khaled join Mia Jankowicz, Residencies Curator at Gasworks. Their discussion will explore the institutional, ethical and cultural issues raised by their various experiences and working approaches to international artist residencies.
These artists’ residencies have been developed through a collaboration between Africa Beyond and Gasworks. They have each been supported in developing a project with a major London visual arts organisation. Andrew Esiebo (Nigeria) is undertaking his residency in association with The Photographers’ Gallery, Mahmoud Khaled (Egypt) in association with Iniva, and Goddy Leye (Cameroon) in association with the Southbank Centre.
The open-ended, process-based nature of the residencies has allowed the visiting artists to research and experiment with new work in an international context.
Admission is free. As places are limited, please reserve a place by phoning 020 7749 1240 or emailing bookings@rivingtonplace.org.
