Role Purpose
The Assistant Librarian is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of iniva’s Stuart Hall Library at designated times working within a small library and archive team, providing a welcoming reception desk service to library users. This role involves managing journal subscriptions, indexing articles and other collection management tasks, such as acquisition, cataloguing and providing access to our global art history collections. The Assistant Librarian will also assist with research enquiries; lead library tours and inductions to a range of audiences and supervise library volunteers and student placements.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a proactive and approachable person with demonstrated experience of managing a front-end library service independently or within a team. They will have demonstrated experience in cataloguing monographs, exhibition catalogues, zines and/or journals to current RDA and MARC standards. It is equally important for the candidate to understand radical librarianship and the need for critical thinking in their approach to cataloguing contemporary art resources about diaspora artists. Demonstrated experience in managing journal subscriptions; working with the Library Management System KOHA and subject knowledge in contemporary visual arts and culture would be advantageous, but training and support will be provided.
