Crash Course in Contemporary Art: 12 August, 10:30am – 5pm
For 16 – 23 year olds
What is contemporary art? On this one-day course organised by Iniva and led by Rajesh Punj, you’ll visit some of the most cutting-edge and exciting galleries in East London. Take a tour of the White Cube, Flowers East, Pure Evil Gallery, Bloomberg Space and Iniva’s own gallery at Rivington Place. You’ll learn how art is displayed, where it is shown and what type of art is currently being created.
Rajesh Punj is a contemporary art collector, freelance curator and art writer, commissioned regularly by Flash Art International, Art India and more recently Saatchi Gallery among others. Based in London he has a specialist interest in contemporary Indian and Middle Eastern art with an academic background in modern and contemporary art history and curating. He has forth-coming plans for a Middle East show in London whilst being invited to co-curate a show in Mumbai in 2010.
