Accessibility

iniva is committed to providing an accessible environment for all visitors. We ask that you contact the library ahead of your visit with any questions regarding specific requirements or adjustments that we can make.

Venue Access

  • Stuart Hall Library is located within Block D of Chelsea College of Arts at 16 John Islip Street, London SW1P 4JU.
  • It has step-free access with wheelchair-friendly pathways and doorways, though some corridors/study areas may be narrow.
  • The nearest step-free Underground station is Pimlico (Victoria Line), approximately 5–7 minutes away on foot.
  • There are drop-off points and limited Blue Badge parking available nearby on Millbank and John Islip Street.

Toilets

  • There is one toilet inside at the back of Stuart Hall Library.
  • An accessible toilet is located on the first floor, equipped with grab rails and alarm system.
  • An additional accessible toilet is located on the ground floor of Block A/B of the Chelsea College of Arts (building parallel to Stuart Hall Library).
  • Nearest Changing Places toilet located 120m away at Tate Britain, Millbank, SW1P 4RG.

Sensory Access

  • Reading aids such as magnifiers can be requested.
  • Metal weights or snake book weights can be requested.

Storage

  • Bags should be stored within our lockers provided. Large items such as luggage or folded bikes can be stored with our storage cupboard.
  • Prams and pushchairs may be stored in the library. Please note all items are left at the owner’s risk.

Guides and assistance dogs

  • Assistance and service dogs are welcome within the building.

Emergency procedures

  • Visitors who consider themselves frail or have difficulty walking should make themselves known to library staff.
