Spring is here, colour is back, the weather tilts and senses are aflame. So what better time to unpack some of the more psychedelic items in the Stuart Hall Library collection, investigating literature and artwork that inspires surreal shifts of the imagination and the playful warping of what we think of as real?
But is psychedelia just about the bright and colourful, or the natural and hypnotic? Or is it more than this? Is it an attempt to sift through the patterns and information that run daily through our minds and cognitions? Maybe there is a lot more to psychedelia than the surface assumptions of peace, love and harmony.
Join Library Manager Jack Mulvaney for March’s edition of On Our Table to investigate the multiplicities of psychedelia, in all its heady world embracing highs and its introspective lows.
