Exploring Identity: Experiences of Self & the Other – legacies of lockdown Georgina Obaye Evans

30 Jul 2020

Our Exploring Identity workshops provide a supported space in which to explore how class, culture, gender and race affect us all.

Thursday 30 July 6 – 7.30pm (via Zoom)

The second in our series of Exploring Identity online workshops is accessible for newcomers and for those who have attended previously.

Book here.

In this online workshop, artist and art psychotherapist Georgina Obaye Evans, will reflect on the ways in which our sense of self and the other are affected as we move out of lockdown.

This workshop will include an activity based on using our Emotional Learning Cards followed by a guided group discussion to spark thinking, dialogue and learning to address:

  • Looking back, how has our recent experience of full lockdown impacted on our sense of self (the internal) and our understanding of other (the external)?
  • What does it feel like to be re-connecting with friends, colleagues, pupils and/or clients in person after a long period without face to face meetings?
  • How can we use contemporary art (both making and viewing) as a means of supporting thinking about identity and our place in the world?
  • How can using the Emotional Learning Cards help us (and others) explore how and what we feel?

Group number: 10

Fee: Our regular ticket price for this workshop would be £12 but we are offering it on a ‘pay what you can’ basis, with trust. It is important to us that the workshop is available to as wide a range of participants as possible. If you are able to give the full ticket price to support the work of Iniva and those less able to contribute we would be very grateful. All fees go to supporting the future work of Iniva Creative Learning.

About: Iniva Creative Learning’s Emotional Learning Cards mix contemporary art by international artists with psychotherapeutic practice. Facilitator Georgina was born in Nigeria and is of mixed heritage. Exploring ideas relating to how our identity is shaped by conscious and unconscious influences has always been of key interest to her both as an artist and a creative therapist.

This workshop contributes to CPD and can be certificated on request.
