This November we are focusing on the theme of identity, community and diasporic histories with a show and tell of the Stuart Hall Library Zine Collection.
Officially launched in 2011, the zine collection has expanded to incorporate 250+ self-published material on cultural diversity, race, ethnicity, gender and sexuality, as well as personal zines, political zines, artist zines and music zines.
As part of our re-launched Saturday programme in our new premises on John Islip Street, we invite you for a guided lunchtime show and tell of the collection with our volunteer Kaya Birch-Skerritt.
Facilitator
Kaya Birch-Skerritt is BA Psychosocial Studies student at Birkbeck, University of London, Creative Learning Apprentice at Barbican Centre and a member of Mother Tongues – an interdisciplinary collective who work on diversifying collection through DIY translation and language. She previously volunteered at the Feminist Library cataloguing their feminist zine collection and has an interest in working with young people, artists, and community groups to facilitate discussion in the visual arts.
