Michael Hardt is co-author with Antonio Negri of Empire (Harvard, 2000), an innovative and radical study that has been described as “the first great theoretical synthesis of the new millennium” (Frederic Jameson). Hardt argues that Empire is alive and well in the form of the new political order of globalisation, with new forms of racism, identity, difference, communication and control.
In conversation with Stuart Hall, Emeritus Professor at the Open University and Chairman of inIVA and Autograph, they will discuss some of the debates that have emerged in the wake of Empire.
